My visit to the Ikon Gallery - Brindley Place, Birmingham

During my visit to the Ikon Gallery in October 2009, I found the artist Seymon Faibisovichs' work to be rather interesting. Although the images are quite random, they all had a purpose and were illustrated using a very old mobile phone. he first used a mobile phone to take photograghs in 2005 and was impressed, stunned and fascinated by the low resolution pixellated effect of the photographs. The artist created his own pixellated imagery by working over the digital images using oils as a medium to create a painting. It is a kind of digital impressionism consisting of luminous reds, greens and blues - to be remixed, to lesser or greater extents in oil on canvas.

The photography based project was drawn from interiors and street life depicting scenes of everyday life in Razgulyai (the moscow district where Faibisovich lives).

Faibisovich is a Russian artist who trained and practised breifly as an architect before he began painting during the 1970s. However this is the first exhibition of his work in the United Kingdom.

I attended the Style in the City event in Birmingham (September 2009). Fantastic show, great work experience and some very hard working people at this show in order to get it spot on.

I worked backstage and it was valuable experience to see behind the scenes of running a Fashion Show.
